2024 Spring Break Ski Beaver Creek

This spring we were overwhelmed by activities that I almost forgot to record our spring break trip!

We decided on Beaver Creek because of our Epic pass plus we had a great impression of BC when we went a few years ago. I found this great deal of staying at Avon. However, it requires us to stay Friday through Friday. After discouraging flight prices, we decided to leave a day early and drive to BC in two days.

By now we are familiar with the drive to Colorado routine. We stayed in Amarillo after 6 hours driving and arrived at our unit on Friday check in time. Our lodging is a timeshare resort called Falcon point. It has activities such as free breakfast, movie night, hot cocoa night planned out during the week. We loved our cozy and clean 2-bedroom apartment. The only complaint was Falcon Point was at the end of shuttle stops and getting a standing spot was challenging at times.

Beaver Creek is as wonderfully laid out as we remembered. The snow condition was nice most of the time, only one or two afternoons got warm. We enjoyed the terrain park, moguls, especially the race track. Not only was the race track free, also it gave out swags for Toyota. Avon is a good size ski town with plenty of restaurant and shopping choices. I got new ski outfits from Avon's Christie sports.

We took the fourth day to drive to Glenwood Springs. I've wanted to check out Hanging Lake and Glenwood Hot Spring. We drove past the canyons and stopped at Hanging Lake trail. Since the trail rises 1200 feet in 1.2 mile and was covered in ice, we chose to skip the hike and went to the town.

After a quick gondola ride, we came upon this America's highest elevation amusement park. The park was created because of the two caves discovered at the mountain top. The bigger cave is called King's row and the smaller is called Fairy cave. King's row is more impressive and better preserved. Looking at the water dripping once every two seconds to form a stalagmite after thousands of years was impressive. We all loved this underground experience.

After the cave tours, we went to soak in Glenwood Springs. Their lazy river was under maintenance. We spent an hour and a half soaking. This hot spring is less memorable than Mountain Princeton or Pagosa Hot Spring. It will go through a major expansion soon though.

We welcomed fresh power for the last two days of skiing. Will skied a few difficult runs on his birthday and earned himself a black eye.

Falcon point is right next to a pond and a city park. From our place, we could see the playground across the walk path. Our two kids enjoyed the nearby snow fields and made a huge snowball. We teamed up to push this snowball to the pond.

On Friday March 15th, we drove home in one day. Texas welcomed us with a double rainbow. Another great trip is in the books!
