Beaver Creek

Before we got on the airplane, I started to miss two kids already. I told Will that I didn't know if the trip was a good idea since I was already lovesick. Then on the plane, we both got to watch a movie, uninterrupted. This thing that seemed so insignificant before kids got both of us giddy. We looked at each other: we think we can do this! ;-)

We stayed at Denver Friday night and got stuck in traffic for an extra hour Saturday morning heading west. We were told that we could only avoid the traffic if we head out from Denver by 5:30am. We will remember for next time.

We skied at Vail Saturday and the resort was busy-- line was about 10 minutes long. We enjoyed the front of the resort at the east side and stayed away from the packed back-bowls. And then we headed to our hotel in BC. The ski village has a very residential feel compared to the vast Vail village. We got upgraded to slope-side room and was happy to find the lifts and ski school is right outside of our window. And our ski valet took our skis and boots and stored it for us. We were definitely spoiled by this service.

BC is a small resort on acreage but it has a good balance of trail difficulties and every trail has good accessibility. We felt it skied much bigger than what the ski map shows. Best of all, it has an expert mountain (Grouse Mountain) right in the middle that most times just has Will and I. It gave us a private ski mountain feel. We liked BC a lot and planned to bring the kids back a few years later.

Zach's cabin offers mountaintop fine dining and impeccable service

Our waitress overheard it's my birthday celebration and brought us deserts

Beaver Creek has easy access to all our favorite runs -- moguls, groomed blue run and glade runs. And it's empty!

We did some ski racing too

Our hotel has daily S'more making off the slope, multiple mush-mellow flavors!

We skied non-stop, making our money's worth of outrages lift ticket prices ;-)
