Saturday we had a fun Trolley play date with our neighbors, the
Cosmics. Cody and Henry met us at the White Rock Station and we rode to
Uptown station to meet Jeremy and catch the trolley.
It
was a long excursion for the kids. We left about 3:30 and got back home
a little after 7pm. We all had fun but most of all, Will and I learned
some great parenting tricks. Cody is in children's education field and
she was professionally trained.
When Jackson fell off
his chair at our picnic dinner, Cody reacted immediately and hold him
tight. Unlike Jackson's normal reaction, he didn't even fuss after the
incident. She said the key was "hold tight but talk softly". It gives
the kids safe feeling and also calmed by the soft voice.
When
Henry wandered off to the nearby table during dinner, Cody said to him
"I am going to help you if you don't come back", Henry immediately came
back to the table. She said kids worried about being helped more than
anything. We've been using this trick and it worked like magic
especially with Norah.
