Birth of Norah

At 37 weeks' OB visit, Dr Sigman told me I was already 2cm dilated and should expect Norah around 38 weeks. Her diagnose kicked off a series of actions as we all scrambled to be ready for the new due date. Grandparents in China changed their flights and Grandparents in Dallas came back early from their vacation. I made all the transitions needed for work.

We were ready for her at 38 weeks. Then we waited and waited. Everyday at work, I get multiple remarks "Why are you still here?!" That two weeks felt very long. Also at each week's OB visit, my  dilation was slightly more. That made us all think it could be the next day.

Two days before her due date, I started to feel occasional contractions. We knew her arrival was just around the corner. Then 3am on her due date, the regular contraction started. I waited till 7am to tell Will that our daughter was coming today!

We left the house after rush hour and arrived the hospital around 9:30am. I was dilated 6cm and Dr Heintges, the on-call doctor admitted me. She was certain it was going to be that day. I got my epidural around 11am and that's all I cared about at that moment.

Near 2pm, I was fully dilated and ready to push. Dr Heintges was delivering another baby next door and told me to practice my push. I told the nurse I shouldn't be practicing push based on how quickly Jackson came out. Once Dr Heintges came in and was ready for us, our baby girl was born in a few minutes. She has long dark black hair that surprised everybody!
